Do you know what you want and why you want it?
What system process is causing you the most pain?
If you did nothing what would happen?
Do you know what a successful team looks like?
What are your business goals both short and long term?
What data do you have and where is it kept?
How clean is your data?
What does your nomenclature look like?
Does your team understand the need to change?
Have you given them the ability to voice any ideas or concerns they may have?
These sound like easy questions to answer but you would be surprised how many organisations start their search for a tool without really understanding what they need or why they need it.
Writing my first post on this blog reminds me of going on a first date. I want to capture your attention, make you want to get to know me but I certainly don’t want to divulge too much information too soon so as to ensure I get a second opportunity to meet you.
My reasons for starting this blog are many and I have come across so many Organisations that are really not performing to the best of their abilities. They look at the tools they have and suggest that the tools are responsible for the this lack of performance. It may well be the case that the tools do not suit their needs moving forwards, however, it may also be the case that a total tool refresh is not required and a lot of money can be saved by looking at a more overall view of the organisation.
When you run searches for CRM Tools, you will be seeing tens of Tools that pretty much do the same thing. They have different User interfaces, can show you different reporting capabilities and have some wizardry that will make life easier for you. How do you know which one will be right for your Organisation? Do you really understand what you need and what would be nice to have at this stage? Is it more a case of you don’t know what you don’t know?
My first challenge when I meet with an Organisation for the first time is to ask them to take a step back. You definitely know what you dont want – Right? You dont want to continue doing the same things and getting the same results. There does need to be change that has been recognised.
I have 14 years experience working for and enabling organisations to change for the better. It can be a smoother, easier transition if the groundwork is done properly. It is my aim that I can continue to assist organisations become more successful and innovative.
